20 | 20 | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General | |
21 | 21 | Assembly convened: | |

23 | 23 | That part V of chapter 164 of the general statutes be amended to 1 | |
24 | 24 | require that (1) a child's initial individualized education program 2 | |
25 | 25 | consider such child's goals upon reaching twenty-one years of age and 3 | |
26 | 26 | include a plan with a goal for aging-out of the educational plan, (2) 4 | |
27 | 27 | each subsequent individualized education program for such child 5 | |
28 | 28 | reconsider and reevaluate the child's age-out goal to see where the 6 | |
29 | 29 | child's progression is toward achieving such age-out goal, and (3) such 7 | |
30 | 30 | child's progress shall be measured to assess his or her progress 8 | |
31 | 31 | towards achieving such age-out goal and to make any necessary 9 | |
32 | 32 | modifications to such child's individualized education program. 10 | |
33 | 33 | Statement of Purpose: | |
34 | 34 | To require the establishment of an age-out goal for students with IEPs, | |
35 | 35 | and to require each annual IEP reevaluation to measure the student's | |
36 | 36 | progress towards that goal, and to revise as necessary in order to reach | |
37 | 37 | that goal. |
