AN ACT CONCERNING THE INCLUSION OF AGE-OUT GOALS FOR 
STUDENTS WITH IEPS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That part V of chapter 164 of the general statutes be amended to 1 
require that (1) a child's initial individualized education program 2 
consider such child's goals upon reaching twenty-one years of age and 3 
include a plan with a goal for aging-out of the educational plan, (2) 4 
each subsequent individualized education program for such child 5 
reconsider and reevaluate the child's age-out goal to see where the 6 
child's progression is toward achieving such age-out goal, and (3) such 7 
child's progress shall be measured to assess his or her progress 8 
towards achieving such age-out goal and to make any necessary 9 
modifications to such child's individualized education program.  10 
Statement of Purpose:   
To require the establishment of an age-out goal for students with IEPs, 
and to require each annual IEP reevaluation to measure the student's 
progress towards that goal, and to revise as necessary in order to reach 
that goal.
