24 | 24 | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General | |
25 | 25 | Assembly convened: | |

27 | 27 | That the general statutes be amended to require: (1) Law 1 | |
28 | 28 | enforcement agencies to send text message alerts to persons who are 2 | |
29 | 29 | deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind in schools; (2) visual lighting 3 | |
30 | 30 | signals, video messaging and auditory alarms to relay information; (3) 4 | |
31 | 31 | establishment of a method to allow persons who are deaf, hard of 5 | |
32 | 32 | hearing, or deaf-blind who are sheltering during an emergency to be 6 | |
33 | 33 | able to inform emergency responders of their location; and (4) 7 | |
34 | 34 | emergency responders to receive basic American Sign Language 8 | |
35 | 35 | training to allow them to communicate directions such as "hide", 9 | |
36 | 36 | "quiet", "get down" and "run" in an emergency. 10 | |
