AN ACT FINING UNQUALIFIED PERSONS WHO USE THE TITLE OF SOCIAL WORKER. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 383b of the general statutes be amended to authorize 1 the Commissioner of Public Health to fine a person who uses the title 2 of "social worker" two hundred fifty dollars and issue a cease and 3 desist order if such person has not attained (1) a baccalaureate or 4 master's degree in social work from an educational institution 5 accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or (2) a doctoral 6 degree in social work. 7 Statement of Purpose: To prevent unqualified persons from using the title of social worker.
