| 25 | 25 | | Section 1. Subdivision (1) of subsection (b) of section 27-102l of the 1 |

| 26 | 26 | | general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu 2 |

| 28 | 28 | | (b) (1) (A) The commissioner may appoint a manager to administer 4 |

| 29 | 29 | | an Office of Advocacy and Assistance for the aid and benefit of 5 |

| 30 | 30 | | veterans and their spouses, eligible dependents and family members. 6 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | The office shall have a staff of not less than eight men and women, 7 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | including six veterans' service officers, and clerical personnel. The 8 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | manager and veterans' service officers shall be veterans, as defined in 9 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | subsection (a) of section 27-103, or veterans who were awarded the 10 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | armed forces expeditionary medal for service by the armed forces. 11 |

| 36 | 36 | | (B) The manager shall designate five members of the office staff to 12 |

| 37 | 37 | | drive veterans to medical appointments and employment interviews. 13 |
