LCO No. 4659 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 7204 January Session, 2019 LCO No. 4659 Referred to Committee on TRANSPORTATION Introduced by: (TRA) AN ACT PERMITTING THE ISSUANCE OF NUMBER PLATES WITH EIGHT CHARACTERS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. Subsection (s) of section 14-49 of the general statutes is 1 repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective 2 October 1, 2019): 3 (s) A fee of sixty-nine dollars shall be charged in addition to the 4 regular fee prescribed for the registration of a motor vehicle, including 5 but not limited to any passenger motor vehicle or motorcycle, in 6 accordance with this section for a number plate or plates for such 7 vehicle bearing any combination of no more than eight letters or 8 numbers requested by the registrant and which may be issued in the 9 discretion of the commissioner, except in any case in which the 10 number plates bear the official call letters of an amateur radio station. 11 [On and after July 1, 2011, the fee shall be sixty-nine dollars.] 12 Raised Bill No. 7204 LCO No. 4659 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 October 1, 2019 14-49(s) Statement of Purpose: To permit the Department of Motor Vehicles to issue number plates with eight characters.
