1419 AN ACT CONCERNING AG ING IN PLACE.
1520 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
1621 Assembly convened:

1823 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Department of Housing 1
1924 shall, within available appropriations, conduct a study of methods to 2
2025 assist senior citizens who wish to continue independently living in 3
21-their homes as long as possible. Specifically, the study shall include, 4
22-but need not be limited to, a consideration of: 5
23-(1) Application of the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit 6
24-program, 26 USC 42, to further encourage the development of housing 7
25-near public transit and livable community settings; 8
26-(2) Whether the Housing Trust Fund program, established under 9
27-section 8-336p of the general statutes, has specific regulations that give 10
28-extra consideration to projects that serve senior citizens; 11
29-(3) Increasing current building standards beyond those required by 12
30-the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, 42 USC 12101, to 13
31-require building standards that consider people with limited physical 14
32-capabilities and apply those standards to private housing and single 15
33-family units built with public funds; and 16
34-(4) Integration of local efficiency principles into decision making as 17
