9-AN ACT CONCERNING IN -STATE STUDENT STATUS FOR
10-SPOUSES AND CHILDREN OF CERTAIN MEMBERS O F THE
11-ARMED FORCES.

1214 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
1315 Assembly convened:

15-Section 1. Subdivisions (6) and (7) of section 10a-29 of the general
16-statutes are repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof
17-(Effective October 1, 2019):
18-(6) (A) A member of the armed forces who is stationed in this state
19-pursuant to military orders shall be entitled to classification as an in-
20-state student.
21-(B) The spouse of any person who is a member of the armed forces
22-and stationed in this state pursuant to military orders shall be entitled
23-to classification as an in-state student. The spouse, while in residence
24-after the spouse's acceptance for matriculation at a constituent unit of
25-the state system of higher education in a course of study leading to an
26-associate, bachelor or advanced degree, shall not lose classification as
27-an in-state student if the member of the armed forces is thereafter
28-transferred on military orders;
29-(7) An unemancipated person whose parent is a member of the
30-armed forces and stationed in this state pursuant to military orders Substitute House Bill No. 7248

39-or advanced degree, shall not lose [his residence when] classification as
40-an in-state student if his or her parent is thereafter transferred on

47+This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
48+sections:

53+In Subdiv. (7), "he" was changed to "[he] the student" and "or her" was
54+inserted for consistency drafting conventions, and "in-state status" was
55+changed to "classification as an in-state student" for internal
56+consistency.
