LCO No. 5090 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 7292 January Session, 2019 LCO No. 5090 Referred to Committee on LABOR AND PUBLIC EMPLOYEES Introduced by: (LAB) AN ACT CONCERNING SO CIAL WORKER TITLE PROTECTION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. Subsections (a) and (b) of section 20-195q of the general 1 statutes are repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof 2 (Effective January 1, 2021): 3 (a) No person shall (1) use the title "social worker" or "licensed 4 master social worker" or any initials associated with such [title] titles, 5 or (2) advertise services under the description of a licensed master 6 social worker, as defined in section 20-195m, unless such person is 7 licensed as a master social worker pursuant to this chapter. 8 (b) No person shall (1) use the title "social worker" or "licensed 9 clinical social worker" or any initials associated with such [title] titles, 10 or (2) advertise services under the description of a licensed clinical 11 social worker, as defined in section 20-195m, unless such person is 12 licensed as a clinical social worker pursuant to this chapter. 13 Raised Bill No. LCO No. 5090 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 January 1, 2021 20-195q(a) and (b) Statement of Purpose: To require any person who uses the title "social worker" to be properly licensed.
