RESOLUTION PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE STATE 
CONSTITUTION TO AUTOMATICALLY ADMIT SEVENTEEN -YEAR-
OLD STATE RESIDENTS AS ELECTORS. 
Resolved by this Assembly: 
 
That the Constitution of the state be amended to (1) automatically 1 
admit as an elector, without any requirement to apply for such 2 
admission, any citizen of the United States who has attained the age of 3 
seventeen years and who is a bona fide resident of any town in the 4 
state, (2) require notification of such admission to each newly admitted 5 
elector and to the registrars of voters of the town in which such newly 6 
admitted elector resides, and (3) require necessary funding to the office 7 
of the Secretary of the State for such admission and notification 8 
purposes. 9 
Statement of Purpose:   
To automatically register seventeen-year-old state residents to vote 
without requiring they apply for such registration, to provide 
notification of registration to the newly registered electors and their  Proposed House Joint Resolution No.   36

local registrars of voters and to ensure funding necessary for the 
Secretary of the State to administer these changes.
