AN ACT CONCERNING THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS FOR THE 
CRIME OF ABUSING AN ELDERLY PERSON. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to provide that 1 
notwithstanding the provisions of section 54-193 of the general 2 
statutes, no person may be prosecuted for any offense under title 53 or 3 
53a of the general statutes as a result of an investigation of the 4 
exploitation of an elderly person, as defined in section 17b-450 of the 5 
general statutes, except within five years from the date of the 6 
discovery of such offense or within five years from the date of the 7 
death of such elderly person, whichever shall first occur. 8 
Statement of Purpose:   
To amend the statute of limitations for the crime of abusing an elderly 
person to provide that the five-year period be based on the discovery 
of the offense or the death of the elderly person.
