AN ACT CONCERNING COMMITMENT OF INDIVIDUALS FOUND NOT
GUILTY BY REASON OF MENTAL DEFECT OR DISEASE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to limit the commitment of 1
individuals found not guilty by reason of mental defect or disease to 2
the maximum amount of time the person could have served if he or 3
she was found guilty of the crimes charged and to provide that such 4
commitment may be extended beyond such time, provided the state 5
bears the burden of proof that such a commitment is necessary. 6
Statement of Purpose:

time of incarceration associated with the crime.
