1419 AN ACT PROHIBITING OFF-SHORE DRILLING FOR O IL AND GAS IN
1520 CONNECTICUT.
1621 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
1722 Assembly convened:

1924 Section 1. Section 22a-473 of the general statutes is repealed and the 1
2025 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2019): 2
2126 (a) No person may engage in exploratory drilling for oil or gas until 3
2227 the regulations required by section 22a-472 are adopted. 4
2328 (b) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) of this section, 5
2429 no person shall engage in drilling for oil or gas, exploratory or 6
2530 otherwise, in the territorial waters of the state. No state agency or 7
2631 department, including, but not limited to, the Department of Energy 8
2732 and Environmental Protection, shall issue or approve any permit, 9
2833 lease, contract or conveyance for, or relating to, the drilling for oil or 10
2934 gas in the territorial waters of the state. 11
3035 (c) No person shall engage in the practice of seismic mapping in the 12
3136 territorial waters of the state. No state agency or department, 13
