AN ACT CONCERNING INMATE CLAIMS THAT ARE FILED WITH THE OFFICE OF THE CLAIMS COMMISSIONER. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 53 of the general statutes be amended to permit an 1 inmate of any institution or facility of the Department of Correction or 2 the estate of such inmate, who has filed a claim with the Office of the 3 Claims Commissioner in connection with a fatal injury or an injury 4 that resulted in a permanent disability suffered while incarcerated, to 5 receive all personnel, protocol or policy reviews, medical files or 6 medical reviews, corrective action plans or summary reports in the 7 possession of the Department of Correction upon petition from such 8 inmate or the inmate's estate. 9 Statement of Purpose: To provide for the fair and equitable adjudication of an inmate's claim for death or permanent injuries suffered while incarcerated at an institution or facility of the Department of Correction.
