23 | 23 | That the general statutes be amended to: (1) Establish a right to legal 1 | |
24 | 24 | representation for any child who is a state resident and who is 2 | |
25 | 25 | involved in a pending removal proceeding before the federal Executive 3 | |
26 | 26 | Office for Immigration Review; (2) establish a right to legal 4 | |
27 | 27 | representation for any adult who (A) is an indigent state resident, (B) 5 | |
28 | 28 | has been detained, and (C) is involved in a pending immigration 6 | |
29 | 29 | matter that involves possible removal from the state or deportation; 7 | |
30 | 30 | and (3) require the Office of the Attorney General to transfer moneys 8 | |
31 | 31 | received from settlements to the Connecticut Bar Association to ensure 9 | |
32 | 32 | sufficient funding to secure legal representation for such children and 10 | |
