1818 AN ACT CONCERNING CERTIFICATIONS OF HELPFULNESS FOR
1919 VICTIMS OF CRIMES.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That subsection (e) of section 46b-38b of the general statutes be 1
2424 amended to define "expeditiously" in subdivision (5), and to provide 2
2525 that by signing a certification of helpfulness, an officer or agency is not 3
2626 making a determination of eligibility for a visa, but is instead certifying 4
2727 that the person or his or her child is a victim of one of the crimes 5
2828 eligible for U Nonimmigrant Status and to provide that a current or 6
2929 ongoing investigation, filing of charges, prosecution or conviction are 7
3030 not required for a victim to request such certification. 8

3232 To assure expeditious processing of requests for certification of
3333 helpfulness in certain immigration-related matters.
