1818 AN ACT ADDING REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE
1919 CHARGING PARKING SPACES TO THE STATE BUILDING CODE.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That subsection (a) of section 29-252 of the general statutes be 1
2424 amended to require that the State Building Inspector and the Codes 2
2525 and Standards Committee revise the State Building Code to require 3
2626 new construction and buildings undergoing substantial rehabilitation 4
2727 of parking areas or electrical systems to have electric vehicle ready 5
2828 parking spaces, which have the appropriate electric wiring for future 6
2929 installation of an electric charging station, and electric vehicle capable 7
3030 parking spaces, which have an electric panel with space to install 8
3131 appropriate electric service, as follows: (1) A one-to-three family home 9
3232 must have at least one electric vehicle ready parking space; (2) a home 10
3333 for more than three families or a commercial building with between 11
3434 two and ten parking spaces must have at least fifty per cent of their 12
3535 spaces electric vehicle capable and at least twenty per cent electric 13
3636 vehicle ready, rounded to the nearest larger number; and (3) a multi-14
3737 unit residential or commercial building with at least eleven parking 15
