| 21 | 21 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General |

| 22 | 22 | | Assembly convened: |

| 24 | 24 | | Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) For purposes of this section, 1 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | "Smith-Magenis Syndrome" means a genetically based, developmental 2 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | disorder that includes, but is not limited to, mild to moderate 3 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | intellectual disability, delayed speech and language skills, distinctive 4 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | facial features, sleep disturbances and behavioral problems. 5 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (b) The Commissioner of Developmental Services, in consultation 6 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | with the Commissioners of Early Childhood, Education, Mental Health 7 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and Addiction Services, Public Health and Social Services, shall study 8 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | whether children with Smith-Magenis Syndrome are receiving 9 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | adequate services, including, but not limited to, early intervention, 10 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | special education and other supportive services. The commissioner 11 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | shall develop recommendations as necessary to improve such services. 12 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (c) Not later than January 15, 2020, the commissioner shall report on 13 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | the results of the study in accordance with the provisions of section 11-14 Raised Bill No. 834 |
