1919 AN ACT CONCERNING SE RVICES FOR PERSONS WITH SMITH -
2020 MAGENIS SYNDROME.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2222 Assembly convened:

2424 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) For purposes of this section, 1
2525 "Smith-Magenis Syndrome" means a genetically based, developmental 2
2626 disorder that includes, but is not limited to, mild to moderate 3
2727 intellectual disability, delayed speech and language skills, distinctive 4
2828 facial features, sleep disturbances and behavioral problems. 5
2929 (b) The Commissioner of Developmental Services, in consultation 6
3030 with the Commissioners of Early Childhood, Education, Mental Health 7
3131 and Addiction Services, Public Health and Social Services, shall study 8
3232 whether children with Smith-Magenis Syndrome are receiving 9
3333 adequate services, including, but not limited to, early intervention, 10
3434 special education and other supportive services. The commissioner 11
3535 shall develop recommendations as necessary to improve such services. 12
3636 (c) Not later than January 15, 2020, the commissioner shall report on 13
3737 the results of the study in accordance with the provisions of section 11-14 Raised Bill No. 834
