1919 AN ACT CONCERNING TH E PROPHYLACTIC TREATMENT OF
2020 MINORS FOR SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES .
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2424 Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 19a-216 of the general statutes is 1
2525 repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 2
2626 1, 2019): 3
2727 (a) Any municipal health department, state institution or facility, 4
2828 licensed physician or public or private hospital or clinic, may examine 5
2929 or provide treatment, including prophylactic treatment, for sexually 6
3030 transmitted disease for a minor, if the physician or facility is qualified 7
3131 to provide such examination or treatment. The consent of the parents 8
3232 or guardian of the minor shall not be a prerequisite to the examination 9
3333 or treatment. The physician in charge or other appropriate authority of 10
3434 the facility or the licensed physician concerned shall prescribe an 11
3535 appropriate course of treatment for the minor. The fact of consultation, 12
3636 examination or treatment of a minor under the provisions of this 13
3737 section shall be confidential and shall not be divulged by the facility or 14

4444 other than the minor, except for purposes of reports under section 19a-16
4545 215, and except that, if the minor is not more than twelve years of age, 17
4646 the facility or physician shall report the name, age and address of that 18
4747 minor to the Commissioner of Children a nd Families or the 19
4848 commissioner's designee who shall proceed thereon as in reports 20
4949 under section 17a-101g. As used in this subsection, "prophylactic" 21
5050 means a medicine or course of action used to prevent disease. 22
5151 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
