| 24 | 24 | | Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 19a-216 of the general statutes is 1 |

| 25 | 25 | | repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 2 |

| 27 | 27 | | (a) Any municipal health department, state institution or facility, 4 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | licensed physician or public or private hospital or clinic, may examine 5 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | or provide treatment, including prophylactic treatment, for sexually 6 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | transmitted disease for a minor, if the physician or facility is qualified 7 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | to provide such examination or treatment. The consent of the parents 8 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | or guardian of the minor shall not be a prerequisite to the examination 9 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | or treatment. The physician in charge or other appropriate authority of 10 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | the facility or the licensed physician concerned shall prescribe an 11 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | appropriate course of treatment for the minor. The fact of consultation, 12 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | examination or treatment of a minor under the provisions of this 13 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | section shall be confidential and shall not be divulged by the facility or 14 |
|---|
