27 | 25 | | Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) There is established a task force 1 |
---|
28 | 26 | | to study the current and anticipated future impact of climate change 2 |
---|
29 | 27 | | on this state. Such study shall include, but need not be limited to, the 3 |
---|
30 | 28 | | current and anticipated future impact of climate change on this state, 4 |
---|
31 | 29 | | the residents of this state, municipalities in this state, the insurance 5 |
---|
32 | 30 | | industry in this state and the cost and availability of insurance in this 6 |
---|
33 | 31 | | state. 7 |

34 | 32 | | (b) The task force shall consist of the following members: 8 |

35 | 33 | | (1) Two appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives, 9 |
---|
36 | 34 | | one of whom has expertise in insurance and one of whom has 10 |
---|
37 | 35 | | expertise in environmental science; 11 |
---|
38 | 36 | | (2) Two appointed by the president pro tempore of the Senate; 12 Raised Bill No. 979 |

54 | 51 | | (9) Two persons appointed by the Governor. 22 |

55 | 52 | | (c) Any member of the task force appointed under subdivision (1), 23 |

56 | 53 | | (2), (3), (4), (5) or (6) of subsection (b) of this section may be a member 24 |
---|
57 | 54 | | of the General Assembly. 25 |

58 | 55 | | (d) All appointments to the task force shall be made not later than 26 |

59 | 56 | | thirty days after the effective date of this section. Any vacancy shall be 27 |
---|
60 | 57 | | filled by the appointing authority. 28 |

61 | 58 | | (e) The speaker of the House of Representatives and the president 29 |
---|
62 | 59 | | pro tempore of the Senate shall select the chairpersons of the task force 30 |
---|
63 | 60 | | from among the members of the task force. Such chairpersons shall 31 |
---|
64 | 61 | | schedule the first meeting of the task force, which shall be held not 32 |
---|
65 | 62 | | later than sixty days after the effective date of this section. 33 |
---|
66 | 63 | | (f) The administrative staff of the joint standing committee of the 34 |
---|
67 | 64 | | General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to insurance 35 |
---|
68 | 65 | | shall serve as administrative staff of the task force. 36 |
---|
69 | 66 | | (g) Not later than January 1, 2020, the task force shall submit a 37 |
---|
70 | 67 | | report on its findings and recommendations to the joint standing 38 |
