| 26 | 24 | Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Any municipality may 1 | |
| 27 | 25 | establish a program to pay a municipal police officer who is injured 2 | |
| 28 | 26 | and disabled in the performance of the officer's duties to the extent the 3 | |
| 29 | 27 | officer is unable to perform the officer's duties, an amount that is the 4 | |
| 30 | 28 | difference between the pay the officer would have received if the 5 | |
| 31 | 29 | officer could continue to perform his or her duties and the amount the 6 | |
| 32 | 30 | officer is receiving from workers' compensation benefits under chapter 7 | |
| 33 | 31 | 568 of the general statutes and any other benefits. The municipality 8 | |
| 34 | 32 | may pay such amount until the officer reaches the age of sixty-five. 9 | |
