AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF STANDARDS AN D METHODS FOR 
PYRRHOTITE TESTING A T QUARRIES.  
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2019) The Commissioner of Consumer 1 
Protection shall study standards and methods used at quarries for the 2 
testing of concrete aggregate for the presence of pyrrhotite. Such study 3 
shall include, but need not be limited to, an evaluation of standards 4 
and methods published by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, 5 
National Institute of Standards and Technology and ASTM 6 
International. Not later than January 1, 2020, the Commissioner of 7 
Consumer Protection shall submit a report, in accordance with the 8 
provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, to the joint standing 9 
committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters 10 
relating to insurance and planning and development. Such report shall 11 
include, but need not be limited to, the findings of such study and any 12 
recommendations for legislation. 13 
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections:
