AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF THE FEASIBILITY OF 
ESTABLISHING A VIRTUAL SCHOOL. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. (Effective from passage) The State Board of Education shall 1 
study the feasibility of establishing a virtual school for elementary and 2 
secondary education to allow children of active duty members of the 3 
armed forces, as defined in section 27-103 of the general statutes, to 4 
transition from a school district located in another state to this state. 5 
Such study shall include, but not be limited to, whether a virtual school 6 
for elementary and secondary education would provide continuity of 7 
such children's education when transferring to a school district in this 8 
state, the type of curricula such children may access and whether credits 9 
earned by such children attending a virtual school in another state may 10 
be accepted by a school district in this state. Not later than January 1, 11 
2021, the State Board of Education shall submit a report, in accordance 12 
with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, of the 13 
findings of such study to the joint standing committees of the General 14 
Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to education and 15

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections:

To require the State Board of Education to study the feasibility of 
establishing a virtual school to support the transition of military 
children from another state to this state.
