1818 AN ACT CONCERNING THE ADOPTION OF CHILDREN BY RELATIVE
1919 CAREGIVERS.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That chapters 803 and 815t of the general statutes be amended to 1
2424 provide that in any proceeding involving the potential adoption of a 2
2525 minor child by a prospective adoptive parent who is a relative of the 3
2626 child, the Department of Children and Families may not present 4
2727 evidence of abuse, neglect or drug use, which is alleged to have been 5
2828 committed by such prospective adoptive more than ten years prior to 6
2929 the date of the proceeding, except evidence of sexual abuse alleged to 7
3030 have been committed by such prospective adoptive parent more than 8
3131 ten years prior to the date proceeding, may be presented by the 9
3232 department. 10
3333 Statement of Purpose:
3434 To promote the adoption of children by relative caregivers.
