REP. DATHAN, 142nd Dist. REP. RYAN, 139th Dist. AN ACT REQUIRING INFORMED CONSENT FOR A PELVIC OR PROSTATE EXAMINATION ON A PATIENT WHO IS UNDER DEEP SEDATION OR ANESTHESIA OR UNCONSCIOUS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require any physician, 1 medical student or person participating in a residency program or 2 clinical training program to acquire informed consent from a patient to 3 undergo a pelvic or prostate examination while under deep sedation or 4 anesthesia or unconscious. 5 Statement of Purpose: To prohibit unauthorized pelvic and prostate examinations on patients who have been administered sedation or anesthesia or are unconscious.
