2121 AN ACT CONCERNING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSFER OF CERTAIN
2222 AUTO THEFT CASES FROM THE JUVENILE COURT TO THE
2323 CRIMINAL DOCKET AND REVISING THE STATE -WIDE POLICY ON
2424 POLICE PURSUITS SPECIFIC TO PROPERTY CRIMES.
2525 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2626 Assembly convened:

2828 That (1) title 46b of the general statutes be amended to require the 1
2929 automatic transfer to criminal court of a case of a juvenile charged with 2
3030 larceny involving theft of a motor vehicle if the juvenile has previously 3
3131 been adjudicated as delinquent for, convicted of, or plead guilty or nolo 4
3232 contendere to one or more offenses of larceny involving theft of a motor 5
3333 vehicle; and (2) section 14-283a of the general statutes be amended to 6
3434 direct the Police Officer Standard and Training Council to revise the 7
3535 state-wide policy on motor vehicle pursuit by police officers to specify 8
3636 that a police officer may engage in a pursuit when the driver of the 9
3737 fleeing vehicle is suspected of a crime against property, including theft 10

4343 Statement of Purpose:
4444 To promote more effective deterrents to motor vehicle theft by juveniles
4545 and to revise the state-wide policy on motor vehicle pursuit by police
