HWANG, 28th Dist. REP. MCCARTHY VAHEY, 133rd Dist. AN ACT AUTHORIZING WAIVERS FROM THE SALARY LIMITATION FOR RETIRED TEACHERS WHO ARE REHIRED DURING THE COVID - 19 PANDEMIC. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That subsection (a) of section 10-183v of the general statutes be 1 amended to authorize the Teachers' Retirement Board to grant a waiver 2 from the requirement that a teacher who is receiving retirement benefits 3 from the teachers' retirement system and is employed in a teaching 4 position receiving compensation shall not receive more than forty-five 5 per cent of the maximum salary level for the assigned position, during 6 declarations of a public health or civil preparedness emergency relating 7 to COVID-19 by the Governor, or for the school years commencing July 8 1, 2021, and July 1, 2022, whichever is longer. 9 Statement of Purpose: To address challenges in filling teacher shortage areas resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
