1818 AN ACT ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR COMPOSTABLE
1919 PRODUCTS.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That the general statutes be amended to require ASTM certification 1
2424 for any product advertised as compostable and mandate such products 2
2525 be tinted green or brown and products that do not meet such standards 3
2626 not be labeled as biodegradable or decomposable and require that in 4
2727 2022 all precheckout bags be ASTM D6400 and TUV OK Home Compost 5
2828 certified and contain at least thirty per cent total organic carbon content 6
2929 renewable material. 7
3030 Statement of Purpose:
3131 To establish a certain standard for compostable bags and require certain
3232 checkout bags to meet particular ASTM standards for compostable
