1919 AN ACT CONCERNING JUNETEENTH EMANCIPATION DAY AND THE
2020 ISSUANCE OF JUNETEENTH COMMEMORATIVE PLATES.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2222 Assembly convened:

2424 That section 1-4 of the general statutes be amended to establish June 1
2525 nineteenth of each year as a state holiday, Juneteenth Emancipation 2
2626 Day, in honor of the emancipation of slaves in Texas in 1865, and that 3
2727 chapter 246 of the general statutes be amended to require the 4
2828 Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to issue Juneteenth commemorative 5
2929 number plates and the fees for such plates, excluding administrative 6
3030 costs, to be deposited into the General Fund to make grants for the 7
3131 purpose of promoting Juneteenth Emancipation Day. 8
3232 Statement of Purpose:
3333 To establish Juneteenth Emancipation Day as a state holiday and to
3434 create a specialty Juneteenth license plate.
