2020 AN ACT CONCERNING THE MENTAL HEALTH OF STUDENTS AND
2121 CHILDREN.
2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2323 Assembly convened:

2525 That the general statutes be amended to (1) require the state Board of 1
2626 Education to amend the definition of "excused absence" to include 2
2727 illness or recovery concerning mental health; (2) increase access to 3
2828 outpatient mental health treatment by juveniles by allowing any minor 4
2929 thirteen years of age or older to request and receive such treatment 5
3030 without the consent of the minor's parent or guardian; and (3) permit 6
3131 school districts to create, in consultation with the Department of Mental 7
3232 Health and Addiction Services, evidence-based student mental health 8
3333 screening programs appropriate for each grade and age level. 9

3535 To promote the mental health of students and children.
