WELANDER, 114th Dist. AN ACT INCREASING AWARENESS OF AVAILABLE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 170 of the general statutes be amended to require local 1 and regional boards of education to (1) annually provide information to 2 students in grades six to twelve, inclusive, and the parents and 3 guardians of such students, of the availability of mental health 4 resources, services and crisis counseling, such as the United Way of 5 Connecticut 2-1-1 Infoline program, and (2) print information regarding 6 the suicide prevention hotline on student identification cards. 7 Statement of Purpose: To assist students and their families in addressing issues concerning mental health and anxiety that have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic by requiring boards of education to provide information relating to mental health services and resources.
