AN ACT ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE TO EVALUATE AND MAKE
RECOMMENDATIONS TO ENHANCE THE TEACHING OF CIVICS,
CITIZENSHIP AND AMERICAN GOVERNMENT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to establish the Connecticut 1
Civics Education Task Force to evaluate and make recommendations on 2
how public schools provide instruction on civics, citizenship and 3
American government to students by (1) reviewing existing curricula 4
and the high school graduation requirement s, (2) receiving 5
recommendations from educators, administrators and the public, and 6
(3) exploring the feasibility of establishing public and private 7
partnerships to fund and support enhancements to such instruction. 8
Statement of Purpose:
To establish the Connecticut Civics Education Task Force to review and
improve civics education in Connecticut and develop guidelines,
standards and curricula for that purpose.
