AN ACT CONCERNING A COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY INSPECTION
OF A USED MOTOR VEHICLE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That subsection (g) of section 14-62 of the general statutes be 1
amended to (1) require the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to revise 2
the vehicle inspection form to be completed by a licensed motor vehicle 3
dealer to provide greater clarity and address problems associated with 4
self-certification and improper inspections, and (2) require a dealer to 5
complete such form for any vehicle sold in "as is" condition and subject 6
such vehicles to a warranty under section 42-221 of the general statutes. 7
Statement of Purpose:
To protect the consumer from unsafe used cars and ensure transparency
and public safety with regards to used car sales.
