AN ACT CONCERNING PERMITTED RECREATION ON PUBLIC
WATER SUPPLY STORAGE OR DISTRIBUTION RESERVOIRS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 25-43c of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1
prior to any proposed change by a water company of the rules regarding 2
recreational activity on a public water supply storage or distribution 3
reservoir, such water company shall (1) give written notice of such 4
proposed change to the chief executive officer of each municipality 5
bordering such reservoir and to the owner of each residential property 6
that abuts such reservoir, and (2) receive approval from each such chief 7
executive officer and owner regarding such proposed change before 8
submitting such proposed change to the Commissioners of Public 9
Health and Energy and Environmental Protection. 10
Statement of Purpose:
To require community engagement and consensus prior to any change
in the rules adopted for permitted recreation on public water supply
storage or distribution reservoirs.
