AN ACT CONCERNING NURSING HOME EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME
INFECTED WITH CONTAGIOUS DISEASES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to: (1) Prior to the 2022 effective 1
implementation date of Connecticut's Paid Family and Medical Leave 2
Program, implement a state-funded pool to cover sick time for 3
employees of nursing homes who are infected with a contagious disease 4
and who have exhausted any available fringe, federal or state sick leave 5
benefits to which they are entitled, and (2) adopt a presumption of 6
workers' compensation coverage for employees of nursing homes who 7
become infected with a contagious disease. 8
Statement of Purpose:
To offer sick time and financial support to nursing home staff who
become sick after they have exhausted their current benefits.
