1818 AN ACT LIMITING THE USE OF PERFLUOROALKYL AND
1919 POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES AND EXPANDED
2020 POLYSTYRENE IN FOOD PACKAGING.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2222 Assembly convened:

2424 That the general statutes be amended to require the Department of 1
2525 Public Health to examine the availability of reasonable alternatives to 2
2626 any food packaging product that contains an intentionally added 3
2727 perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substance or expanded polystyrene 4
2828 and prohibit the manufacture, sale and distribution for sale or for use in 5
2929 the state any food packaging that contains a perfluoroalkyl or 6
3030 polyfluoroalkyl substance or expanded polystyrene that was 7
3131 intentionally added to such packaging in any amount when the 8
3232 department has determined that a reasonable alternative to such food 9
3333 packaging is available. 10
3434 Statement of Purpose:
3535 To limit the use of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances and
3636 expanded polystyrene in food packaging.
