AN ACT LIMITING THE USE OF PERFLUOROALKYL AND POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES AND EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE IN FOOD PACKAGING. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require the Department of 1 Public Health to examine the availability of reasonable alternatives to 2 any food packaging product that contains an intentionally added 3 perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substance or expanded polystyrene 4 and prohibit the manufacture, sale and distribution for sale or for use in 5 the state any food packaging that contains a perfluoroalkyl or 6 polyfluoroalkyl substance or expanded polystyrene that was 7 intentionally added to such packaging in any amount when the 8 department has determined that a reasonable alternative to such food 9 packaging is available. 10 Statement of Purpose: To limit the use of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances and expanded polystyrene in food packaging.
