AN ACT CONCERNING REAL ESTATE CLOSINGS AND MORTGAGE 
LOAN TRANSACTIONS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to: (1) Permit persons other 1 
than attorneys admitted in this state to represent the legal interests of 2 
parties to real estate closings concerning real property in this state; and 3 
(2) permit mortgage lenders to induce or require prospective 4 
mortgagors to use preferred attorneys or law firms to represent such 5 
mortgagors in proposed mortgage loan transactions concerning real 6 
property in this state. 7 
Statement of Purpose:   
To: (1) Permit persons other than attorneys admitted in this state to 
represent the legal interests of parties to real estate closings concerning 
real property in this state; and (2) permit mortgage lenders to induce or 
require prospective mortgagors to use preferred attorneys or law firms 
to represent such mortgagors in proposed mortgage loan transactions 
concerning real property in this state.
