AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEFINITION OF EXCUSED ABSENCE 
FOR PURPOSES OF REPORTING TRUANCY IN CONNECTICUT. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 10-198b of the general statutes be amended to require the 1 
Department of Education to amend the definition of "excused absence" 2 
to include (1) any medical absence that is approved by a licensed 3 
medical professional, and (2) any absence resulting from participation 4 
in a work-study program that is part of a curriculum approved by the 5 
local or regional board of education. 6 
Statement of Purpose:   
To accurately report on truancy in Connecticut.
