2121 AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEFENSE OF A PERSON'S HOME,
2222 MOTOR VEHICLE OR BUSINESS.
2323 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2424 Assembly convened:

2626 That section 53a-20 of the general statutes be amended to fully enact 1
2727 the castle doctrine in order to provide that if a person believes that 2
2828 deadly physical force is necessary to prevent or terminate an unlawful 3
2929 entry by force into such person's dwelling, motor vehicle or place of 4
3030 business, or to prevent the commission of arson or a crime of violence 5
3131 by a trespasser and that there shall be a rebuttable presumption that 6
3232 such belief was a reasonable belief. 7
3333 Statement of Purpose:
3434 To establish a rebuttable presumption in a self-defense claim that, when
3535 a person believes it necessary to use deadly force to repel an intruder,
3636 such belief is a reasonable belief.
