AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEFENSE OF A PERSON'S HOME, 
MOTOR VEHICLE OR BUSINESS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 53a-20 of the general statutes be amended to fully enact 1 
the castle doctrine in order to provide that if a person believes that 2 
deadly physical force is necessary to prevent or terminate an unlawful 3 
entry by force into such person's dwelling, motor vehicle or place of 4 
business, or to prevent the commission of arson or a crime of violence 5 
by a trespasser and that there shall be a rebuttable presumption that 6 
such belief was a reasonable belief. 7 
Statement of Purpose:   
To establish a rebuttable presumption in a self-defense claim that, when 
a person believes it necessary to use deadly force to repel an intruder, 
such belief is a reasonable belief.
