AN ACT PROVIDING IMMUNITY FROM CIVIL LIABILITY TO A PHYSICIAN WHO ACCOMPANIES AND ASSISTS A STATE, REGIONAL OR MUNICIPAL SWAT TEAM. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to provide that any person 1 licensed to practice medicine and surgery under the provisions of 2 chapter 370 of the general statutes, who, voluntarily and gratuitously 3 and other than in the course of such person's employment or practice, 4 renders emergency medical assistance in connection with the law 5 enforcement duties of a state, regional or municipal special weapons 6 and tactics team, shall not be liable to any person assisted for civil 7 damages for any personal injuries that result from acts or omissions by 8 such physician in rendering emergency medical assistance, which may 9 constitute ordinary negligence. 10 Statement of Purpose: To provide immunity from civil liability to a physician who accompanies and assists a state, regional or municipal SWAT team.
