AN ACT CONCERNING RIGHT TO COUNSEL IN SUMMARY PROCESS PROCEEDINGS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 832 of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1 a tenant who is a defendant in a summary process matter and whose 2 total annual income is not greater than seventy-five thousand dollars 3 shall have legal counsel appointed to represent such tenant during the 4 pendency of the summary process matter. 5 Statement of Purpose: To provide legal counsel to certain eligible tenants in summary process matters.
