AN ACT EXEMPTING CERTAIN VETERANS' BENEFITS FROM INCOME WHEN DETERMINING ELIGIBILITY FOR STATE MEDICAID PROGRAMS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to exempt any federal veterans' 1 benefits, including, but not limited to, basic pension, Aid and 2 Attendance and Housebound benefits, from income when determining 3 eligibility for state Medicaid programs and to authorize the 4 Commissioner of Social Services to exempt such benefits from income 5 eligibility criteria as unreimbursed medical expenses. 6 Statement of Purpose: To exempt any federal veterans' benefits from income when determining eligibility for state Medicaid programs and to authorize the Commissioner of Social Services to exempt such benefits from income eligibility criteria as unreimbursed medical expenses.
