2021 AN ACT CONCERNING JU DICIAL COMPENSATION.
2122 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2425 Section 1. Section 51-47 of the general statutes is repealed and the 1
2526 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from passage): 2
2627 (a) The judges of the Superior Court, judges of the Appellate Court 3
2728 and judges of the Supreme Court shall receive annually salaries as 4

2930 [(1) On and after July 1, 2014, (A) the Chief Justice of the Supreme 6

215211 shall receive one thousand two hundred thirty dollars in additional 162

226222 shall be a member of the bar of the state of Connecticut and shall not 173
227223 engage in private practice, nor on or after July 1, 1985, be a member of 174
228224 any board of directors or of any advisory board of any state bank and 175
229225 trust company, state bank or savings and loan association, national 176
230226 banking association or federal savings bank or savings and loan 177
231227 association. Nothing in this subsection shall preclude a senior judge 178
232228 from participating in any alternative dispute resolution program 179

240235 (d) Each such judge, excluding any senior judge, who has completed 181
241236 not less than ten years of service as a judge of either the Supreme Court, 182
242237 the Appellate Court, or the Superior Court, or of any combination of 183
243238 such courts, or of the Court of Common Pleas, the Juvenile Court or the 184
244239 Circuit Court, or other state service or service as an elected officer of the 185
245240 state, or any combination of such service, shall receive semiannual 186
246241 longevity payments based on service as a judge of any or all of such six 187
247242 courts, or other state service or service as an elected officer of the state, 188
248243 or any combination of such service, completed as of the first day of July 189
249244 and the first day of January of each year, as follows: 190
250245 (1) A judge who has completed ten or more years but less than fifteen 191
251246 years of service shall receive one-quarter of three per cent of the annual 192
252247 salary payable under subsection (a) of this section. 193
253248 (2) A judge who has completed fifteen or more years but less than 194
254249 twenty years of service shall receive one-half of three per cent of the 195
255250 annual salary payable under subsection (a) of this section. 196
256251 (3) A judge who has completed twenty or more years but less than 197
257252 twenty-five years of service shall receive three-quarters of three per cent 198
258253 of the annual salary payable under subsection (a) of this section. 199
259254 (4) A judge who has completed twenty-five or more years of service 200
260255 shall receive three per cent of the annual salary payable under 201
261256 subsection (a) of this section. 202
262257 Sec. 2. Subsection (f) of section 52-434 of the general statutes is 203
263258 repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from 204

265260 (f) (1) Each judge trial referee shall receive, for acting as a referee or 206
266261 as a single auditor or committee of any court or for performing duties 207
267262 assigned by the Chief Court Administrator with the approval of the 208
268263 Chief Justice, for each day the judge trial referee is so engaged, in 209
269264 addition to the retirement salary: [(1) (A) On and after July 1, 2014, the 210
270265 sum of two hundred forty-four dollars, (B) on and after July 1, 2015, the 211 Raised Bill No. 988

283-Such amounts shall be taxed by the court making the reference in the 218

295289 Sec. 3. Subsection (h) of section 46b-231 of the general statutes is 230
