AN ACT PROHIBITING AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION
FROM CONSIDERING LEGACY PREFERENCES IN THE ADMISSIONS
PROCESS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2022) (a) As used in this section, 1
"public institution of higher education" means the constituent units of 2
the state system of higher education identified in subdivisions (1) and 3
(2) of section 10a-1 of the general statutes. 4
(b) No public institution of higher education shall give preference to 5
an applicant for admission to such institution on the basis of the 6
applicant's familial relationship to a person who has graduated from 7
such institution. 8
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:
