2121 AN ACT CONCERNING THE HEALTH OF FIREFIGHTERS.
2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2323 Assembly convened:

2525 That the general statutes be amended to (1) add a presumption that a 1
2626 firefighter's diagnosis of cancer arose out of and in the course of 2
2727 employment for purposes of workers' compensation; and (2) create a 3
2828 working group consisting of firefighters and members of the UConn 4
2929 Health network to research and compile data on the following: (A) Rates 5
3030 of breast and endocrine cancers in firefighters within the state compared 6
3131 to firefighters in other states, (B) the prevalence of cancers in states that 7
3232 ban certain flame retardants compared to Connecticut, (C) develop a 8
3333 plan to phase out and ban the use of certain flame retardants, (D) 9
3434 determine if certain safeguards or preventative care are recommended 10
3535 for the prevention of breast or endocrine cancers, and (E) determine if 11
3636 any additional safeguards are recommended for firefighters. 12 Proposed Bill No. 6369
