Researcher: JSB Page 1 3/22/23 OLR Bill Analysis sHB 6614 AN ACT CONCERNING DEBIT CARDS AND CASH DISCOUNTS FOR GASOLINE PURCHASES. SUMMARY Current law requires gas station operators who offer a discount for paying cash for motor boat or vehicle fuel to post a sign specifying how debit card transactions will be processed (i.e., as cash or credit card), if the sign is required by state regulations. This bill eliminates the contingency that the sign be posted only if required by state regulations, thus requiring it to be posted anytime an operator offers a discount for paying in cash.
