AN ACT DESIGNATING VARIOUS DAYS, WEEKS AND MONTHS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 10-29a of the general statutes is 1
amended by adding subdivisions (108) to (116), inclusive, as follows 2
(Effective October 1, 2023): 3
(NEW) (108) The Governor shall proclaim the month of May of each 4
year as Bone Health and Osteoporosis Month, to raise public 5
awareness of this women's health issue. Suitable exercises may be held 6
in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the Governor designates for the 7
observance of the month. 8
(NEW) (109) The Governor shall proclaim the first week of May of 9
each year to be Tardive Dyskinesia Awareness Week, to raise public 10
awareness of this neurological involuntary movement disorder and 11
available treatments for it. Suitable exercises may be held in the State 12
Capitol and elsewhere as the Governor designates for the observance 13

(NEW) (110) The Governor shall proclaim May tenth of each year as 15
Ann Petry Day, in recognition of this Connecticut author and her 16
contribution to literature as the first African-American female author 17
to sell more than a million copies of a novel. Suitable exercises may be 18
held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the Governor designates for 19
the observance of the day. 20
(NEW) (111) The Governor shall proclaim May sixteenth of each 21
year to be Trinity College Day, to recognize the contributions that 22
Trinity College has made to the state upon the anniversary of when the 23
college received its charter, on May 16, 1823. Suitable exercises may be 24
held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the Governor designates for 25
the observance of the day. 26
(NEW) (112) The Governor shall proclaim July eleventh of each year 27
as Bosnian Genocide Remembrance Day, to remember the more than 28
eight thousand Bosniak civilians killed in Srebrenica during the 29
Bosnian war. Suitable exercises may be held in the State Capitol and 30
elsewhere as the Governor designates for the observance of the day. 31
(NEW) (113) The Governor shall proclaim September fourteenth of 32
each year to be Free Enterprise Day, to recognize the contributions that 33
free enterprise has made to the state's economy. Suitable exercises may 34
be held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the Governor designates 35
for the observance of the day. 36
(NEW) (114) The Governor shall proclaim September seventeenth of 37
each year to be Constitution Day, to commemorate the formation and 38
signing of the United States Constitution. Suitable exercises may be 39
held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the Governor designates for 40
the observance of the day. 41
(NEW) (115) The Governor shall proclaim October ninth of each 42
year as PANS and PANDAS Awareness Day, to raise awareness of the 43
autoimmune disorders of Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric 44
Syndrome and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders 45 Bill No. 1158

Associated with Streptococcal infections and available treatments for 46
them. Suitable exercises may be held in the State Capitol and 47
elsewhere as the Governor designates for the observance of the day. 48
(NEW) (116) The Governor shall proclaim the holiday period of 49
November twentieth to December twentieth, inclusive, as Survivors of 50
Homicide Victims Awareness Month, to support the family members 51
of victims of homicide by educating and influencing the public about 52
the impact of homicide on families and communities. Suitable 53
exercises may be held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the 54
Governor designates for the observance of the month. 55
Sec. 2. Subdivisions (103) to (105), inclusive, of subsection (a) of 56
section 10-29a of the general statutes are repealed and the following is 57
substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2023): 58
(103) The Governor shall proclaim the month of March of each year 59
to be Peace Corps Month, in recognition of the service provided by the 60
volunteers of the Peace Corps in supporting the global community. 61
Suitable exercises may be held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as 62
the Governor designates for the observance of the month. 63
(104) [Maternal Mental Health Month.] The Governor shall proclaim 64
the month of May of each year to be Maternal Mental Health Month, to 65
raise awareness of issues surrounding maternal mental health. Suitable 66
exercises may be held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the 67
Governor designates for the observance of the month. 68
(105) [Maternal Mental Health Day.] The Governor shall proclaim 69
May fifth of each year to be Maternal Mental Health Day, to raise 70
awareness of issues surrounding maternal mental health. Suitable 71
exercises may be held in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the 72
Governor designates for the observance of the day. 73
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:
