25 | 24 | | Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) There is established a task force 1 |
---|
26 | 25 | | to study maximizing Medicaid reimbursement for The University of 2 |
---|
27 | 26 | | Connecticut Health Center. 3 |
---|
28 | 27 | | (b) The task force shall consist of the following members: 4 |
---|
29 | 28 | | (1) The House and Senate chairpersons and ranking members, or 5 |
---|
30 | 29 | | their designees, of the joint standing committees of the General 6 |
---|
31 | 30 | | Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to appropriations and 7 |
---|
32 | 31 | | the budgets of state agencies, human services and higher education; 8 |
---|
33 | 32 | | (2) The president of The University of Connecticut and the chief 9 |
---|
34 | 33 | | executive officer of The University of Connecticut Health Center, or 10 |
---|
35 | 34 | | their designees; 11 |
---|
36 | 35 | | (3) A representative of a labor union representing employees of The 12 |
---|

44 | 42 | | Senate chairpersons of the joint standing committee of the General 14 |
---|
45 | 43 | | Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to human services; 15 |

46 | 44 | | (4) A representative of a state-wide organization representing 16 |

47 | 45 | | hospitals, appointed by the House and Senate ranking members of the 17 |
---|
48 | 46 | | joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of 18 |
---|
49 | 47 | | matters relating to human services; 19 |
---|
50 | 48 | | (5) The Commissioner of Social Services, or the commissioner's 20 |
---|
51 | 49 | | designee; and 21 |
---|
52 | 50 | | (6) The Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management, or the 22 |
---|
53 | 51 | | secretary's designee. 23 |
---|
54 | 52 | | (c) All initial appointments to the task force shall be made not later 24 |
---|
55 | 53 | | than thirty days after the effective date of this section. Any vacancy shall 25 |
---|
56 | 54 | | be filled by the appointing authority. 26 |
---|
57 | 55 | | (d) The chairpersons of the task force shall be the House and Senate 27 |
---|
58 | 56 | | chairpersons of the joint standing committee of the General Assembly 28 |
---|
59 | 57 | | having cognizance of matters relating to human services and the 29 |
---|
60 | 58 | | Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management, or their designees. 30 |
---|
61 | 59 | | Such chairpersons shall schedule the first meeting of the task force, 31 |
---|
62 | 60 | | which shall be held not later than sixty days after the effective date of 32 |
---|
63 | 61 | | this section. 33 |
---|
64 | 62 | | (e) The administrative staff of the joint standing committee of the 34 |
---|
65 | 63 | | General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to human 35 |
---|
66 | 64 | | services shall serve as administrative staff of the task force. 36 |
---|
67 | 65 | | (f) Not later than January 1, 2025, the task force shall submit a report 37 |
---|
68 | 66 | | on its findings and recommendations to the joint standing committees 38 |
---|
69 | 67 | | of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to 39 |
---|
70 | 68 | | appropriations and the budgets of state agencies, human services and 40 |
---|
71 | 69 | | higher education, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of 41 |
---|
72 | 70 | | the general statutes. The task force shall terminate on the date that it 42 |
